One dead, another critical in traffic accident

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE are investigating a traffic accident in the South East Peninsula that left one dead, one critical and another with minor injuries.

     

    Reports reaching this publication yesterday morning (Nov. 28) stated that the person who died was a tourist and the one who is critical is his wife.

    However, a police press release neither disclose the sex, name and nationality of the deceased nor those of the critically injured individual.

    The release stated that the accident occurred at the South East Peninsula on Wednesday (Nov. 27) and “involved motor omnibus TA 499, which is owned by Selmoth Rawlins of Old Road and was being driven by Raheem Desuza of Lime Kiln, and motor car RA 250, which is owned by Hertz Car Rental and was being driven by a visitor to the island”. 
     
    It also stated that at about 6:30 p.m. on 5he day in question, TA 499 was heading towards Frigate Bay and RA 250 was heading towards the end of the Peninsula when both vehicles collided. 

    The release further stated that the front seat passenger of the car and the driver of the bus were taken to the JNF Hospital by the Emergency Medical Service, while the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene by the District Medical Officer. 

    Desuza had sustained minor injuries qnd was treated and discharged, while “the passenger of the car underwent surgery and is warded in a critical condition”. 

    The release informed that an autopsy would be scheduled to determine the exact cause of death as investigations into the matter are ongoing.
