Police Officers and Soldiers leave for Dominica as part of RSS peacekeeping mission

By: (RSCNPF), Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 04, 2019 (RSCNPF): Three (3) Police Officers and three (3) Soldiers have boldly and willingly agreed to journey to Dominica as part of a regional contingent.

In response to a request made by the authorities in Dominica, the Regional Security Service (RSS) reached out to its partner security agencies. Each territory was asked to contribute personnel to form a peacekeeping mission that would assist with the maintenance of law and order in that country. In keeping with the tradition of cooperation of both agencies, The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force came together to meet the request. As a result, a 6-member team comprising Corporal Ryan Haywood (Team Leader), Officers Valdon Rogers and Dwain Pope, along with Privates Dennis Phillip, Owen Creary and Ijel Liburd left the Federation on Tuesday, December 03, 2019.

Dominica has been going through a period of unrest in several areas and General Elections are due on Friday, December 06. In the first instance, the troops are expected to remain in Dominica for one week once their services are no longer required. They will provide critical support to local law enforcement personnel in a number of areas, including routine patrols.

Commissioner of Police Hilroy Brandy reminded them that they were representatives of St. Kitts and Nevis and urged them to do their best to help their fellow men.
