BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A man is currently in custody assisting police with their investigations into a sexual assault and robbery incident.
According to a police communiqué, the incident was reported at about 5:25 a.m. today (Dec. 7).
The communiqué indicated that it took place in the western part of St. Kitts and preliminary reports indicated that a male assailant had entered a young female’s home, took a number of her personal items and sexually assaulted her.
A man is in custody assisting the police with their investigations into the matter.
The matter is still under investigation and the police have made a special appeal to persons who might have any information regarding this incident to contact the Special Victims Unit (SVU) by dialling 465-2241 ext. 4252.
They said the SVU could also be reached via cell phone at 665-3091 and persons with information that could lead to the apprehension and persecution of the perpetrator could also contact the nearest police station or call the Crime Hotline at 707.
This has taken to seven the number of rape/sexual assault incidents in St. Kitts that have been reported to the police for the year – five in Basseterre, one in Newton Ground and the other in the western part of the island.
