BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE in Basseterre are investigating an armed robbery of the Chines national-owned Island Foods Supermarket situated on the Island Main Road in Camps.
According to a police communiqué, the robbery took place at about 4:50 p.m. on Friday (Dec. 6).
So far, investigation revealed that two masked men had entered the supermarket and demanded money from one of the cashiers.
The men reportedly had what appeared to be firearms in their possession and took an undisclosed sum of cash from the cash register before fleeing the scene.
Fortunately, however, no one was injured during the incident.
As investigations into the matter are ongoing, the police are asking persons who might have information about this incident to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at the Basseterre Police Station by dialling 465-2241, the nearest police station or the Crime Hotline at 707.
