BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE man, who was assisting police with their investigations into last Saturday’s (Dec. 7) sexual assault and robbery incident, was on Monday (Dec. 9) formally charged with Rape and Burglary.
In an earlier press release, police stated that they received a report of the incident at about 5:25 a.m. on the day in question and that it occurred in the western part of St. Kitts.
It stated preliminary reports indicated that a male assailant had entered a young female’s home, took a number of her personal items and sexually assaulted her.
It also stated that a man was in custody assisting the police with their investigations into the matter.
However, the said individual was on Monday slapped with the two charges and is still in police custody.
This has taken to seven the number of rape/sexual assault incidents in St. Kitts that have been reported to the police for the year – five in Basseterre, one in Newton Ground and the other in the western part of the island.
Of the seven incidents, three of them have been solved and three men, including this recent one, have since been charged for allegedly committing the offences.
