BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LORD KUT showed that he is still a force to be reckoned with as he took the crown in the Best of the Rest Calypso Competition.
The Competition was held on Thursday night (Dec. 19) at Bank Street, where Lord Kut registered 384 points with his ‘Everybody wants something’ rendition to outperform seven other competitors.
Sensation, who scored 366 with ‘No Place Like Home’, took the First Runner-Up position, while Singing Sharon occupied the Second Runner-Up spot with 354 points singing ‘My Body My Choice’, and Singing Jennifer was Third Runner-Up with 352 points belting out her ‘Ticking Like A Time Bomb’.
That was the second Finals in the musical events for Carnival activities, after Miss Independent took home the crown in the Female Calypso Competition.
On December 24, all attention will be on the Finals of the Soca Monarch Competition where the artistes will square off in two segments.
This year, the Carnival Committee reverted to staging both the Power and Groovy segments after merging the competition in 2018.
Rucas H.E. took home the crown last year with Bary C occupying the First Runner-Up spot.
Following that, the attention will then shift to the National Calypso Competition which is schedule for Carnival Village on Sunday (Dec. 29).
