BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, December 23, 2019 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- The evergreen Peoples Labour Party (PLP) Constituency Number Seven Women’s Group held an end of year/Christmas party on Friday December 20, where they also thanked the PLP National Political Leader and Prime Minister, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, for the support he has given them all along.

“We hold parties once a month where we also celebrate persons observing a birthday in that particular month, not necessarily on the day of the actual birthday as we might have several members having birthdays on different days in one given month,” said Mrs Sonia Henry, President of the PLP Constituency Number Seven Women’s Group.
Mrs Henry is also one of the two Peoples Labour Party’s National Women’s Arm Representatives.
The party on Friday held at the Creole Restaurant and Bar in Frigate Bay, was a special Christmas party and was held on the birthday of one of their members, Ms Eulyn Jeffers. According to Mrs Henry, the members came ready to celebrate with Ms Jeffers.
“The idea was more for Christmas and to say thank you on behalf of Prime Minister Harris,” observed Mrs Henry. “We say ‘thank you’ because at times we have got to step the members up by encouraging them.”
Mrs Henry presented each of the members with an individual gift from Prime Minister Harris, who is also the Area Parliamentary Representative for Constituency Number Seven. They also exchanged gifts, feted and celebrated Birthday Girl - Ms Eulyn Jeffers.
The PLP Constituency Number Seven Women’s Group was formed after Team Unity got into government in 2015. Apart from the monthly meetings where they meet to discuss and plan ahead, they also visit the seniors and attend church services. Other activities include the holding of fundraisers to assist needy families in the constituency, hold back-to-school events, attend any function that they are invited, and on Mother’s Day they give tokens to women in the constituency.
The group is seen as a model, and a number of individuals who are not from Constituency Number Seven are its regular members as they love the group.
“Sometimes it has been hard and difficult, but I am trusting God every time because all our names are different, so our needs are different, and so are our attitudes,” said Mrs Henry. “But I do not want attitude to get in between what I am doing because I am doing it for one cause - and that is to get Prime Minister Harris back in government.”
The members also thanked Chairman of the PLP Constituency Number Seven Executive Branch, Mr Lenworth Harris, who has given the group his full support whenever they are executing any of their activities in the constituency.
“Apart from continuing with our regular activities, in 2020 we are ready to hit the road to campaign,” said Mrs Sonia Henry when asked what plans the group has for the coming year. “Knock on doors and get other ladies involved, and go from Constituency One and right through the island.”
