BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, December 26, 2019 (DBSKN) -- Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis continues its partnership with the St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival and this year, as it has done over the years, has sponsored two contestants; one for the National Carnival Queen Pageant and the other for the National Carnival Swimsuit Competition.
The contestants, Ms Tywana Cranston for the National Carnival Queen Pageant and Ms Avis Glasgow for the National Carnival Swimsuit Competition, were officially introduced to the Development Bank family during an end of year/Christmas party held for members of the Board of Directors and staff on Saturday December 21 at Railway Bar and Grill in Old Road.
In attendance included Mr Warren Thompson, Chairman of the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis Board of Directors, and the bank’s Chief Executive Officer Mr Lenworth Harris. When the programme started, prayer was offered by Ms Tywana Cranston, who is employed by the bank as a Customer Service Representative at the Nevis branch office.
“I am very happy and grateful to see the participation from the staff and the members,” said Mr Harris as he welcomed members of the Board of Directors and staff. He added: “I have heard the prayer that was said by next Miss St. Kitts Nevis.”
22-year old Ms Cranston who hails from Government Road in Charlestown, Nevis, embodies a true Scorpio woman who is assiduous, determined, passionate and extremely witty.
To appear as Ambassador Number Two in the pageant that takes place on Friday December 27, Ms Cranston is guided by her personal mantra ‘feel the fear and do it anyway’ which makes her fervently believe that mastery of one’s trepidations help to create life’s most magical moments.
She possesses a keen interest in pageantry having been the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis-sponsored contestant in the 2018 staging of the Miss Culture Queen Pageant in Nevis where she captured the first runner-up position. She says: “I am honoured to be making my contribution to the 48th edition of the St. Kitts-Nevis Carnival as a proud contestant in this year’s National Carnival Queen Pageant.”
The National Carnival Swimsuit Competition, which has six contestants, takes place tonight Thursday December 26, and coming in as Contestant Number Five, is Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis-sponsored 22-year old Ms Avis Glasgow who hails from Sandy Point.
By participating in the Miss St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Swimsuit Pageant this year, Ms Glasgow wishes to do something that she will be remembered for: To make a statement to herself and to be able to reach out or be a hero for even one person.
“And now here is my secret - a very simple secret,” says Ms Glasgow. “It is only with the heart that no one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye. Let us as a people contribute to keeping our culture alive!”
After the dinner, the two contestants were introduced to the members of the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis Board of Directors. Those present were Chairman Mr Warren Thompson, Mr Walton Jacobs, Ms Deniece Alleyne, Mr Floyd Harris, and Dr Dail Crawford.
For its continued partnership with the St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival, the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis was late last month applauded by Ms Shirley Julius, Chairperson for Sponsorship at the St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival when she received Development Bank’s sponsorship cheque from Ms Vernitha Evelyn-Maynard, bank’s Marketing Officer.
“Development Bank is a sponsor of the National Queen Pageant that is slated for the 27th of December, and the National Swimsuit Competition which is slated for the 26th of December,” observed Ms Julius. “We continue to get the support of the Development Bank and we say thanks to the Development Bank again for coming on board for another year as one of the partners for the St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival.”
