Mr. Bagnall takes Power title
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - FOLLOWING his success at defending his title as the Groovy Soca Monarch, Rucas HE is looking to continue developing his brand, while at the same time providing fans with more of his high energy music.
In the 2019/2020 Soca Monarch Competition, the National Carnival Committee reverted to splitting the event into two segments - Groovy and Power - after staging a combined event in 2018.
Rucas, who also won the event last year, said he has a number of plans in store over for next year that would ensure his fans keep close to music.
Among the plans is a collaboration with a regional artiste.
“We will continue to produce great music and push our brand,” Rucas said.
He revealed that they are working on a king-of-kings project, where the brand would be working with various Soca monarchs from across the region to develop and collaborate on music.
“This month, the month of December, we are working with and releasing a track with Menace XL out of Antigua, who is the reigning Groovy Monarch.”
The Groovy Monarch described his repeat win as “fabulous” and exciting.
“I am excited and ecstatic with the win. We put together a performance and we executed what we had planned. What we put on stage was basically a family reunion,” Rucas said of his performance.
In the finals of this year’s competition, Rucas registered 389 points to beat K.O into second place (369), Dejour third with 365, and Mr. Hype was fourth with 353 points.
In the Power Competition, Mr. Bagnal took home the crown when he amassed 394 points with KT Dan occupying the second spot with 381, Bary C third with 369 and Mr. Hype placed fourth with 365 points.
