CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THE 2009 hurricane season is very much upon us, as evidenced by the two storms that briefly brushed the islands recently. SKNVibes took the opportunity ask Nevisians if they think the general population is well prepared for the hurricane season.
Jas – No! I have not seen any preparation. We always wait until the last minute to prepare. I have not done anything to get prepared, but we should always be ready.
Natasha – Some people take it more serious than others. I have been keeping track of the storms along with my family.
M. Khan – No! They don’t take it seriously. I have always have a supply of the food, candles, batteries etcetera, so that I don’t have to go out in the weather.
Sylvester – No! They don’t take it serious. I have already cut down hanging trees around my house and carried out some pruning by my windows.
Nerecia – I feel Nevisians don’t take this seriously because they feel that it is not something to worry about unless it is a major hurricane. I have not been preparing but the rest of my family has.
