PAM Secretariat
This weekend, former commissioner of police J. Calvin Fahie had some harsh words for police in the Federation. Fahie accused police officers of "behaving like cowboys" and said that "crime will never be prevented when our civilisation continues to motivate behaviour which at the same time it prohibits, it's pathetic."

PAM Leader Lindsay Grant challenged Prime Minister Denzil Douglas to address Commissioner Fahie's comments.

"There is a crime and murder crisis in the Federation. We need well trained police officers performing at peak condition if we are to bring more murderers and criminals to justice," said Grant. "Commissioner Fahie's accusations are very serious. What I want to know is how the Prime Minister let this happen under his watch."

Grant concluded, "The people of St. Kitts are frightened. The last thing we need are police who a former commissioner says are 'acting like cowboys.' Denzil Douglas is also our Minister of National Security. Why hasn't Denzil Douglas properly trained our police? Why hasn't Denzil Douglas cracked down on police who are acting foolish? The people of the Federation deserve answers. The people deserve a government that takes the crime and murder crisis seriously."
