At the end of the match, Cayon’s Assistant Coach Jazza Buchanan said his team had figured out Newtown’s game plan in the first half, and was able to capitalize on it in the second half.  “We know what Newtown was going to bring tonight and we still let them get a goal in the first half…we went back in (at half time)…and took our chances when we get chances to score,” Buchanan said.

He said the team is doing better this season due the return of some of their major players who had left for other teams. He also said young player who had a chance to play last year, are now more aware of the style of football Cayon plays and are living up to the billing.

Meanwhile, Coach Earl Jones of Newtown F.C. believes his players lacked the commitment needed to win the match. “The fellas are not disciplined. Not even to come out and train. I don’t know if it’s the loss of the captain. Yesterday was a bit sad on the training ground but nevertheless the guys were willing to play for the community and for Kennedy.

Jones commented on the loss of their team Captain Kennedy Isles, who was killed last Friday. He said his death is a major loss to the team and the community. “It’s a really, really big loss. Kennedy was instrumental in putting this team together after losing out about 18 players from the team. He was also the captain. It was really sad over on the training ground. But nevertheless we came to play. We saw our mistakes and we just have to correct them,” Jones added.
