BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOLLOWING 10 days of intensive investigations, sleuths of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force have charged a resident of Dorset Village with the murder of national footballer Kennedy Isles.

According to a police press release, 28-year-old K’Shando Saunders was charged yesterday (Feb. 2) for the January 24, 2019 shooting-death of Isles.

Isles, formerly of Taylor’s Village, was outside his Sandown Road, Newtown residence home time after 9:00 p.m. on Friday (Jan. 24) when an armed assailant approached and fired a number of shots at him.

He was struck multiple times and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The 28-year-old member of Newtown United FC and National Football Team midfielder was pronounced dead by the District Medical Officer who was summoned to the scene.

Members of the Forensic Unit had visited the scene, processed it and collected several items of evidential value.

On Sunday (Jan. 26), a postmortem examination on Isles’ body was performed by Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Valery Alexandrov, who concluded that the cause of death was as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

Two individuals were taken into custody on Wednesday (Jan. 29) to assist police with their investigation and, though not mentioned in the press release, Saunders might have been one of them.

Police had also reported that two others were previously taken into custody on the same grounds, but they were subsequently released.
