Human remains discovered in Boyd’s Village now a homicide

    Four in police custody

     

    Basseterre, St. Kitts – THE lifeless body of the unidentified individual that was discovered within a home in Boyd’s Village on Thursday (Feb. 6) is being treated as a homicide and a number of persons are assisting the police with their investigation into the matter.

    According to a police communiqué, on Saturday (Feb. 8), Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Valery Alexandrov had performed an autopsy on the remains and concluded that death was as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.

    Following his findings, the police have ruled that the matter is a homicide and they have since taken four individuals into custody to assist with their investigation.

    In a previous communiqué, the police did not disclose the sex of the individual but stated that tests would be conducted to ascertain the identity.

    However, both the identity and sex of the individual still remain a mystery.

    Investigations into the matter are ongoing and the police are asking anyone who might have any information regarding this incident to contact the Violent Crime Unit by dialling 467-1887 or 467-1888, 662-3468, or by calling the Crime Hotline at 707.

    This incident has taken to two, the number of homicides committed in the twin-island Federation for the year.

    The first was that of 28-yesr-old Kennedy Islas, who was a member of the Newtown United FC and a midfielder of the National Football Team.

    He was shot multiple times while outside his Sandown Road, Newtown residence some time after 9:00 p.m. on Friday (Jan. 24).

    The police have since charged 28-year-old K’Shando Saunders of Dorset with his murder.
