February 25th, 2020 -- For the sixth year in a row, the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla (SKNA) National Bank has provided financial support to the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College Literary & Debating Society. Ms. Shirna Pemberton, Marketing Manager at SKNA National Bank, expressed her pleasure at the Bank being able to assist the Society in attending the Annual Leeward Islands Debating Competition (LIDC).
This year’s competition will be held in Montserrat from 27 February to 1 March 2020.
The students representing Team St. Kitts are: Dolicia Barry, Rushelda Dabrio, Tecoya Warner, Alanni Polanco, Daniel Browne and Darin Connor. They will be accompanied by Ms. Laverne Brookes, Staff Sponsor of the CFBC Literary & Debating Society, along with other supporters.
On night two of the competition, Team St. Kitts will debate Team Antigua on the moot: The use of marijuana should be banned within the CARICOM society due to its negative effects. If Team St. Kitts proceeds to the next round, they will debate team Nevis on the topic: The technological age has caused severe dilution of authentic Caribbean culture.
If Team St. Kitts is a finalist in the 48th LIDC, they will address the moot: The prevalence of chronic diseases supersedes unemployment as a significant hindrance to development in the Caribbean.
