BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – PLANS for the 2009 Taiwan Agricultural Machinery and Trade Show will be actualized tomorrow (Sep. 10) at the Information Communications Technology (ICT) Centre at the C. A. Paul Southwell Industrial Site.

For the first time, the Embassy of the Republic of China on Taiwan has sponsored an exhibition of Taiwan-made agriculture machinery in order to assist the Federation in the transition toward a diversified agricultural sector.

Third Secretary at the Embassy Roy Hsu said, “The special feature is that this year is the first that we are putting agricultural machinery on display, and the reason is that we have an agricultural project in Newton Ground where we are going to use the same machinery.”

The three-day exhibition is expected to display a wide range of agricultural equipment, from large power tillers, cultivators, brush cutters, and agro-processing machineries to various hand-powered agriculture tools.

In addition to the farm equipment, Taiwan’s renowned electronic products will be showcased at the exhibition.

Hsu added, “This exhibition shows good cooperation between the Embassy and the Ministry of Agriculture, and we want this to demonstrate to the farmers that the use of agricultural machinery can increase their efficiency and productivity.”

Hsu encouraged the general public, especially individuals with a special interest in electronics and agriculture, to attend the exhibition and learn more about the various products of Taiwan.

The agricultural machinery will be displayed in the parking space and the consumer electronic products will be shown in the conference room of the ICT Centre. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and run continuously until 5:00 p.m. each day.
