February 28th, 2020 -- The CARICOM Election Observation Mission to Guyana’s 2 March Elections continued its work on Saturday with pre-election day visits to various polling districts and attendance at final political rallies.

Chief of Mission Ms Cynthia Combie Martyr is leading a 17-member Mission to Monday’s elections. The Mission met during the past week with key stakeholders in the elections, including the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), leaders of political parties, and representatives of the private sector and civil society organisations. On Friday night the Mission met with the Chair and Members of the Inter-Religious Organisation (IRO).

Members of the Mission will observe Monday’s elections day activities, including the opening of Polling Places and the voting process. At the end of the day, the reports of the Observers will be shared during a de-briefing session, and the Chief of Mission will present her Preliminary Statement outlining the Mission’s initial assessment of the electoral process.
