    March 1st, 2020 -- CARICOM’s seventeen-member Election Observation Mission to Guyana’s 2 March 2020 Elections held a final planning session on Sunday ahead of spreading out to various parts of the country.

     

    The Observers will monitor and observe Election Day activities, including the opening of Polling Places, the voting procedure and the count.  They will assemble at the end of Election Day activities for a de-briefing session after which the Chief of Mission Ms Cynthia Combie Martyr will issue a Preliminary Statement.

    Since the Mission’s arrival in Guyana it has been engaging the key stakeholders in the elections, including the Leaders of political parties, the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) and representatives of the private sector and civil society organisations.

    Besides Ms Combie Martyr who is Chairperson of the Saint Lucia Electoral Commission, the other members of the Mission are: Mr John Jarvis and Ms Carolyn Thomas Parker from Antigua and Barbuda; Mr Phillip Turner from The Bahamas; Ms Lesa Collins and Mr Leonard Walters from Barbados; Ms Alix Boyd-Knight and Ms Jennifer Astaphan from Dominica; Ms Yves Marie Edouard from Haiti; Mr Glendon Bennett and Mr Lenworth Sterling from Jamaica; Mr Gasper Jn Baptiste from Saint Lucia; Mr Lionel Sydney Osborne from Saint Kitts and Nevis; Mr Sylvester King from St. Vincent and the Grenadines; Mr Renuka Raghoe from Suriname; and Ms Fern Narcis-Scope and Dr Noel Kalicharan from Trinidad and Tobago.
