Roadtown, Tortola - Acting Premier Honourable Dancia Penn OBE, QC has extended congratulations to the newly elected Chief Minister of Montserrat Honourable Reuben Meade following a majority win in Tuesday’s elections.

In a letter to Mr. Meade, the Acting Premier stated, “Your impressive win of six of the nine seats in the Legislative Council is an indication of the overwhelming vote of confidence the people of Montserrat have placed in your party, the Movement for Change and Prosperity (MCAP).”

The Acting Premier also congratulated Chief Minister Meade on winning his constituency describing it as “another vote of confidence in the leadership and representation you have given your constituents over the years.”

In the letter, Hon. Penn stated that Premier Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE looks forward to renewing his relationship with Hon. Meade when they meet at the Pre-Overseas Territories Consultative Council (OTCC) Meeting in November in the Cayman Islands when he will offer his personal congratulations.

The Acting Premier, who attended the University of the West Indies with Chief Minister Meade, expressed her “special pride to see yet another graduate assume the mantle of leadership in our region. The Founding Fathers of the University are truly vindicated, and with you becoming Chief Minister of Montserrat, the light continues to rise from the West.”

Hon. Meade visited the Territory for various high-level meetings among the overseas territories when he was chief minister from 1991-1996.
