Basseterre, St. Kitts  — Minister of Education, the Hon. Sam T. Condor, has hailed the past academic year as a very good one for many students and teachers in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Speaking at a public meeting in Old Road on September 6, on the eve of the new academic year, Minister Condor said that our “students continue to do extremely well at all levels” and that the new academic year was a “new opportunity to do your best.”

“It is through education that we would build capacity and build the resources to continue to develop this country,” he said.
Minister Condor thanked and encouraged the teachers for the sacrifices that they make in ensuring that children are properly taught and disciplined. He also thanked and encouraged parents to continue to play a vital role in the development and progress of their children.

“I want to encourage all our parents—the teachers need your support, the Ministry needs your support, the government needs your support…your children need your support,” he said.

“The biggest investment that you could make is investment in the education of your children,” he added. “You can’t go wrong with that. That gives the biggest returns ever.”

Minister Condor also encouraged parents to attend Parent Teachers Association (PTA) meetings to find out how their children are progressing in school.

More and more students in the Federation are qualifying themselves for higher education by going on to the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College and later to Universities, he said.
