Barbados' Prime Minister the Right Hon. Owen S. Arthur. |
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, DECEMBER 1ST 2005 St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas is reiterating the Federation's determination to continue to work closely with his Barbados counterpart, the Right Hon. Owen Arthur on matters of mutual and common interest at regional and international levels.
Congratulating Prime Minister Arthur on his Nation's 39th Anniversary of Independence, Dr. Douglas noted that history has shown Barbados to be at the vanguard in the regional integration movement and an uncompromising voice in promoting the gospel of self-reliance, self-esteem and industry.
"In doing so, it has done much to build up the self-confidence of not just a nation of people, but the region's peoples," said Prime Minister Douglas.
He said it was his expectation "as we usher in a new era of economic and social prosperity under the aegis of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy, that Barbados will continue to imbue, by its efforts and example, regional assurance and confidence in such a daunting undertaking."
