BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, 22 July, 2020: Internet customers of The Cable will permanently enjoy increased speeds at the same price effective July 22, 2020. Customers who are currently subscribed to The FLASH package will have their download speed more than doubled from 6MB to an incredible 15MB while the upload speed has increased a hundred-fold from 1MB to 3MB. Meanwhile, customers subscribed to the company’s BOLT flagship package will experience even more speed at 35 MB, up from 30MB, and the company has now answered their call by more than tripling the upload speed of this package to 10 MB from 3MB.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Patricia Walters has explained that this is the company’s way of assisting customers with their daily use of this critical service. “This response of increased speed and unchanged prices is The Cable’s way of demonstrating to our customers that we are in this ‘fight’ together. We are still in the throes of the COVID-19 pandemic which has occasioned an increased reliance on the internet for work, study and even entertainment,” she elaborated. “Increasing the internet speed at this time will aid the efficiency and hopefully productivity of the users of the service, as we slowly return to some semblance of normalcy,” she added.
The Cable was one of the first corporate entities to offer a suite of benefits to its customers and the wider public in the very early stages of the pandemic. These included waiving service installation and late fees to help to ease any impact from reduced income or loss of income that customers experienced. It also offered a 20 per cent price reduction on two of its most popular Internet packages up until the end of June 2020. It was during this time that the speed of its entry-level internet package was increased to 10MG and Free Wi-Fi in Basseterre was made accessible to the general public. Now all customers can continue to enjoy its FREE WiFi service until August 31st, 2020.
