Basseterre, St. Kitts (Dec 1, 2005): Parents in the St. Peter's community are being trained in better parenting skills at a seminar organized by the Early Childhood Development Unit.
A total of 13 topics have already been discussed since the start of the sessions some 10 weeks ago. These include: stages of development, child abuse, setting limits as well as handling anger and conflict in the family.

Facilitators include Ingrid Charles-Gumbs, Michelle Blake, Shalene Bowry, Sherilyn Crawford and Marlene Liburd.

Early Childhood Coordinator Mrs Vanta Walters and her team at the Unit hope that parental training will help them to refine their parenting styles to more appropriate and acceptable methods of parenting their children.
