BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE St. Kitts-Nevis Patriots will not have the services of all-rounder Fabian Allen, who was ruled out of the 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League after he missed his flight to Trinidad and Tobago.
All players were scheduled to arrive on the island at least 14 days before the start of the 2020 tournament. However, Allen missed his flight to Port-of-Spain from Kingston, Jamaica and will not be part of the St. Kitts-based franchised this year.
According to international cricket website cricinfo.com, Allen was expected to be on a flight from Kingston to Barbados then to Port-of-Spain via a chartered flight.
Allen’s agent, who spoke with the website, said the Jamaican was due in Barbados on an internal flight on Monday, August 3 “before boarding the charter to Trinidad, but was late to the airport and missed his flight.
"Unfortunately, there was some confusion with his understanding of the flight details and he missed the flight. We explored all possibilities, but due to the pandemic and travel restrictions in Trinidad, the charter flight on Monday was the only way he could enter the country".
According to media reports, strict regulations are in place for persons entering the island, and the tournament is being held under the regulations of the Trinidad and Tobago Government.
Teams can only enter the island via chartered flights due to the regulations agreed upon, thus ruling the young cricketer out of the tournament altogether.
As explained by cricinfo, this is not the first major withdrawal from the already depleted squad.
The team lost the services of their Head Coach and Assistant Coach due to one testing positive and the latter having IPL commitments.
