BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, September 11, 2020 (MMS-SKN) -- Defending champions Parsons Domino Club’s chances of retaining the Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League title were further dimmed Thursday evening September 10 during the fifth segment of play in the second round of the league’s 25th edition.
Things are not going well this year for the team which made history in 2018 by becoming the first from outside Constituency Number Seven to win the championship, and successfully defended last year. In the first round they lost five games and finished in 8th position out of 14 teams, and in the second round they have already lost four games having won only one.
Doing the damage, in a game played on the grounds of the Tabernacle Police Station, were Christchurch Domino Club players captained by Zeyn Pencheon who reaped maximum points from the game after they effortlessly upstaged Parsons, from Constituency Number Six, 14-6.
Another interesting game on Thursday saw former champions Lodge Domino Club halting the winning streak by frontrunners Phillips Domino Club after they beat them 14-7 in a game played at Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux.
Despite the loss Phillips are still at the top of the points table, but with only a point separating them from the second placed Unity Domino Club who on Thursday beat Saddlers Domino Club 13-7 in a game played at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project.
Molineux Domino Club, after having shocked former champions Unity on Tuesday, continued with that newly found fighting spirit and ended up stopping Unstoppable Domino Club 13-11 in their encounter at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux.
In other games on Thursday evening, Small Corner Bar Domino Club beat Giants Domino Club 13-4 at the Lodge Community Centre while at the neighbouring Cuban Bar, Guinness Domino Club beat Sylvers Domino Club 13-11. In the second game played on the grounds of the Tabernacle Police Station, Tabernacle Domino Club beat Mansion Domino Club 13-10.
Points standing at the end of the fifth segment of the league’s second round: Phillips, 81 points; Unity, 80 points; Tabernacle, 75 points; Lodge, 70 points; Christchurch, 68 points; Unstoppable, 64 points; Mansion, 63 points; Saddlers, 62 points; Parsons, 56 points; Small Corner Bar, 44 points; Giants, 28 points; Sylvers, 27 points; Molineux, 24 points; and Guinness, 19 points.
Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League which is the longest running such league in the Federation, is sponsored by Prime Minister and Area Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher Seven, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris.
Games continue on Sunday September 13 with the sixth segment of play in the second round of the 25th edition of Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League taking place at the usual three venues. All games start at 4:00 pm.
Tabernacle Police Station will be the venue for the Saddlers vs. Mansion, and Christchurch vs. Tabernacle games; Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux will host the Unity vs. Phillips and Small Corner Bar vs. Molineux games; and three games, Sylvers vs. Unstoppable, Parsons vs. Giants, and Lodge vs. Guinness, will be played at Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project.
