BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, DECEMBER 5TH 2005 - Residents of St. Kitts and Nevis are now able to pay 50 East Caribbean cents per minute for cellular phone calls to the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as the decision of the Denzil Douglas Labour Administration to ensure competition in the telecommunications sector continues to reap benefits.

Digicel (St. Kitts and Nevis) announced at its official launch on Friday it was bringing "better value, better choice and better service to St. Kitts and Nevis."

Earlier, Digicel's CEO, Mr. Colm Delves and Marketing Director and Project Manager, Sahra O'Neal paid a courtesy call on St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas.

"With calls as low as two cents per minute for digi-digi calls, with text messaging at five cents per minute and international calls to the USA, UK and Canada at fifty cents per minute, I think that everybody will agree that's good value for the best value in St. Kitts," said Digicel's CEO for the Eastern Caribbean, Mr. Kevin White during the launching ceremony at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.

During the launching ceremony, White said the company is offering a better choice and a very wide range of handsets at its four outlets on St. Kitts.

"We launched with 17 handsets and there is more to come with handsets as law as EC$49 and better service," said White, who disclosed that Digicel has roaming agreements in over 100 countries and 220 roaming partners.

"We were overwhelmed in the stores on Fort Street (Basseterre) and in Nevis. The response far exceeded our expectations and the exit polls are looking very good, but we never thought we would get the response we've got today," said White, who welcomed the people of St. Kitts and Nevis "to the ever growing Digicel family in the Caribbean" and thanked the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis "for their support in making it possible for Digicel to launch in the Federation."

Digicel also launched its GSM service in Anguilla and Bermuda as a result of its agreement to acquire Cingular Wireless' Caribbean and Bermuda operations earlier this year.

Along with recent licenses in Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti, the company says it is on course to operate in 15 countries by early 2006, covering a total population of 14 million people.

The company also introduced a new brand tagline, Expect More, Get More, across its network.

Invited Guests were feted to a colourful fireworks display, entertainment by Bajan Allison Hinds, Digicel promotional material and eats and drinks in the beautifully- decorated Marriott Courtyard.
