Courts St. Kitts/Nevis Press Release

By: Courts St. Kitts/Nevis, Press Release

October 2nd, 2020  --  On October 8th, Courts Optical branches in the region will join the World in Celebrating World Sight Day.  In commemoration of World Sight day, Courts Optical will be offering free digital eye examinations and educate its customers by raising awareness on avoidable blindness.

World Sight Day (WSD), the most important advocacy and communications day in the eye health calendar, is an annual day of awareness that brings global attention to blindness and vision impairment. The main objective of World Sight Day is to raise income to help bring affordable eye care services to some of the world’s most vulnerable and isolated communities and to advocate for testing and preventable blindness.

This year, Courts Optical joins with the Blind Welfare Association in celebrating World Sight Day.  This year’s feature is an open day at all Courts Optical branches where free digital eye examination will be offered to members and the general public. Awareness and testing remains critical in the prevention of blindness and both organizations will embark on a series of radio interviews during the week of October 5th – 10th to stress the importance of frequent testing.

Courts Optical maintains its dedication to the youth especially the most vulnerable and continues to focus on accessible eye care. To this end for the last two years, Courts Optical has maintained their Brighter View initiative which provides free glasses to vulnerable kids between the ages of 5 and 18.

Ms. Llana Casimir, OECS Optical Chain Managers spoke on World Sight Day and indicated that Courts Optical has continued to offer free eye examinations even in a global pandemic, when all the company’s resources are stretched because as an organization, the Unicomer group strongly believes that quality eye care should be accessible to all. She further highlighted that the group continues to invest in the OECS markets by installing Visual Field Testing rooms in Antigua and St. Lucia which allows access to testing for early detection of glaucoma and other vision related illnesses.

Courts Optical is the largest and fastest growing Optical Chain in the region and continue to bring value you can see to customers in the OECS and the wider Caribbean.
