BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, October 5, 2020 (MMS-SKN) -- At a meeting held at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project Sunday afternoon October 4, members of the executive committee, captains and players in attendance unanimously agreed that the 25th edition of Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League is the best ever in terms of its competitiveness and management.

“Looking at the last twenty four years, this twenty-fifth year I think has been the best year I have seen for such a long time, and I wonder if it is because of the Covid why the teams them stepped up with their masks and their uniforms and really put all out to be where they are now,” remarked President of the league’s Executive Committee, and League Coordinator, Calvin Farrell.

Fourteen teams took part in this year’s competition which at the end of its preliminary fixtures, two former champions, Unity Domino Club in second position and Lodge Domino Club in third position sailed into the final four along with leaders Phillips Domino Club, and fourth placed Tabernacle Domino Club.

“Teams that are down at the bottom still put up a show because I know they robbed the teams that are actually on the top valuable points,” observed Calvin Farrell. “I want to congratulate them. We want this league to be the envy of other leagues in St. Kitts and Nevis and further afield.”

The meeting was chaired by Calvin Farrell, who was assisted by Secretary Octavia ‘Tackie’ Huggins, and Vice President Simeon ‘Cuban’ Liburd. Other committee members present were Jerome Alphonso ‘Spy’ Clarke and Samuel Wilson. Not in attendance were Treasurer Keithly Blanchette, and PRO Delroy ‘Beard Man’ Liburd.

Those who contributed from the floor and were in agreement that the league was most competitive this year included captains Allington ‘Leggy’ Berridge of Phillips Domino Club, Samuel Wilson of Unstoppable Domino Club, Norris Sharry of Small Corner Domino Club, and Zeyn Pencheon of Christ Church Domino Club.

Others were Jacob Nisbett of Molineux Domino Club, O’Niel Thomas of Lodge Domino Club, and Vice-Captain Tabernacle Domino Club, Kerone Roache, and players Tyke ‘Barbie’ Isaac and Jamie Brombill of Phillips, and Shaquille Sewell of Tabernacle.

In the meantime, Best of the Rest competition in the 25th edition of Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League starts tonight Monday October 5 at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project, and at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux.

Two games will be held at the Lodge Community Centre, where Christ Church will come up against Sylvers, and Mansion will face Sylvers, while Molineux will be attempting to stop Unstoppable at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex. All games will start at 7:00 pm.

Four teams, including defending champions Parsons Domino Club, Giants Domino Club, Saddlers Domino Club, and Guinness Domino Club have been disqualified from taking part in the Best of the Rest competition in view of their having forfeited games during the preliminaries.
