BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LOCAL Rap/Hip-Hop artiste Dagah was arrested following his performance at the Prime Minister’s Independence Peace Concert on Saturday, September 19.

The concert was held at the Verchild’s High School Playing Field and shortly after departing the stage, Dagah, whose real name is Kwame Samuel, was escorted by police off the grounds.

SKNVibes learnt from a police source that Samuel’s arrest was in connection with maintenance of one of his children.

The rapper has created even more buzz when he had a minor accident in Nevis, where he fell from some speakers while performing at the Liberation Sting Concert that featured Jamaican artiste Busy Signal on Friday, September 18.

According to sources, Samuel climbed onto the speakers during his performance - a stunt that he normally performs at shows of such nature – and accidentally fell down along with the speakers.

“He almost mashed up the show,” the source said.

Samuel (28), a resident of Old Road, made his third appearance at the St. Kitts Music Festival and his first as a solo act this year.

His introduction to the music world began when he became a member of the Razor Band, which came on the scene in 1995. His involvement with the band was that of back-up vocals and bass guitarist.

During the band’s career, three carnival albums were produced which included a hit titled ‘Yabba Dabba’. The band was managed by Kevin Donovan, now known as Masud Sadiki.

Before breaking up in 1999, the last album produced by the band was called ‘Good to Go’ in which Samuel first showcased his rapping skills on a track titled ‘I wanna know’.

During his career, he has collaborated with top home-grown artistes on tracks including Masud Sadiki and Crucial Bankie.

The singer has hit singles ‘I Rep’ and ‘Addict’ and will soon be releasing his debut album ‘In Search of Dagah’.
