One-on-one consultations with PM Harris postponed in view of prevailing weather

Covid-19 protocols in place: Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris with two constituents during the last one-on-one consultations at Constituency Office in Tabernacle
By: Peter Ngunjiri, Press Release

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, August 22, 2020 (MMS-SKN) -- Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris has announced that as result of the prevailing weather conditions occasioned by the passage of Tropical Storm Laura, the one-on-one consultations with his constituents due to have been held today Saturday August 22 from 10:00 am at the Constituency Office in Tabernacle have been postponed.

The one-on-one consultations with the Prime Minister are hugely popular and have been attracting large numbers of his constituents and persons from outside the constituency, and while regretting the unavoidable postponement Dr Harris said: “I do not want people to chance it given the inclement weather.”

According to the Honourable Prime Minister, who is also the National Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP) and the Area Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher Seven, a new date for the one-to-one consultations will be announced on Monday August 24.

In a weather bulletin issued at 7:00 am this morning (Saturday August 22), the St. Kitts Meteorological Services advised that lingering moisture and instability from the passage of Tropical Storm Laura will continue to heighten the chances of cloudiness and showers across the Leeward Islands and British Virgin Islands today.

The bulletin added that a gradual improvement is expected by tonight.

In the meantime, Constituency Office Administrative Assistant Ms Joann Kelly has advised that once a new date for one-on-one consultations is announced, those persons who had been booked to see the Prime Minister today will be given the first priority. She also advised that Covid-19 protocols will be observed and all will be expected to wear face masks, while hand sanitisation will be done at the office.
