The 40-ton per day Consumat CS-1600 modular incinerator currently in use was commissioned in 1994. Owing to the significant increase in the volume of solid waste generated daily, it became necessary for Government to acquire a larger facility. Following an expert recommendation, Government approved the purchase of a Consutech/Consumat Modular Controlled Air Incinerator which is two-and-a-half times larger than the existing incinerator.

Government remains committed to providing systems that adequately support the economic growth and development of the Territory including alternative means of solid waste disposal.
