BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AN accident in the vicinity of the Wellington Road Roundabout has left 81-year-old Conrod Simon dead and a man facing the possibility of charges in relation to his death.

Videos making on social media show a distraught motorcycle driver visibly frustrated while another crying out in anguish following the accident.

Police, in a statement today (Oct. 16), said the accident involved motorbike PB 5341, which is owned and was being driven by Rae Clarke of Mattingley Heights, and pedestrian Conrod Simon of Wellington Road.

Investigations conducted so far have revealed that around 5:00 p.m. yesterday, Clarke was travelling along Cayon Street when Simon stepped down from the sidewalk onto the road in the vicinity of the pedestrian crossing on Pond Road.

    Clarke then collided with Simon.

Police said Clarke received a cut and minor bruise on his feet.

The Emergency Medical Service rushed Simon to the JNF General Hospital where he later died.

An autopsy will be performed shortly to determine his exact cause of death.
