BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - FOLLOWING the recent announcement by Minister of Tourism Lindsay Grant that they are reviewing the number of flights into the Federation during the reopening of the borders, the international schedule has been released.
Minister Grant, during an interview with SKNVibes News, explained: “We would expect that the initial programme would have American Airlines possibly three days per week. We would have United one day per week and we will have Air Canada one day per week, and hopefully British Airways one day per week.”
The St. Kitts Tourism Authority has now updated the schedule for the month of November, which will see eight flights from Miami for the entire period.
Meanwhile, there are currently four scheduled flights from the UK to and from St. Kitts, one each weekly.
The Minister recently told SKNVibes that the Ministry was reconsidering the second weekly flight out of the UK since the demand is currently not out there for flights in the interim - and the Government would have to roll out a lot of money to meet the minimum revenue guarantee to cover the additional flights.
“We expect a gradual delivery of persons into St. Kitts - residents, citizens and tourists alike,” the Minister said. “For the first thing, we are not going to have the kind of airlift that we are accustomed to, so you know that you will not have the supply. And I think the travel industry has to adjust to the new environment and people at times are not really adjustable.”
