BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE police will have an autopsy performed on the body of 19-year-old Jesroy Mulcaire of Zion, Nevis to determine his cause of death.

Mulcaire fell off the M.V. Apple Syder while the vessel was in the vicinity of the Basseterre Ferry Terminal on Friday evening (Oct. 30).

In their report of the incident to the media, police said a report was made at about 7:00 p.m. on the day in question that someone fell overboard from the M.V. Apple Syder at the Ferry Terminal.

Preliminary investigations so far have revealed that Mulcaire, who was a crew member of the vessel that provides ferry service, went to the bow of the vessel on the port side in preparation for docking when he fell into the sea.

“The St. Kitts and Nevis Coast also responded and searched for Mulcaire, with assistance from members of Ken's Diving Center. His body was later retrieved close by and brought ashore where he was pronounced dead by the District Medical Doctor,” the police said in its statement.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
