BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE voting population have reelected Dr. Ralph Gonsalves to serve a fifth term as St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister after the dust settled from yesterday’s (Nov. 5) General Elections.

Early reports out of Kingstown pointed to the Unity Labour Party (ULP) winning the 15-seat House of Assembly 9-6, an increase of one over the New Democratic Party (NDP).

The ULP picked up the North Leewards Constituency, which was a strongly held seat by the NDP.

Prime Minister Gonsalves was quoted by 784 News as saying that the people of SVG embraced the politics of ‘Lifting SVG Higher’, which is said to be a progressive agenda for the ULP to return to government.

“I am humbled and honoured that the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines embraced our bold vision for the future and rejected the politics of hate, backwardness, and colonialism,” Gonsalves said.

Gonsalves took the North Central Windward almost 2,000 votes, recording 2,853 to Chieftain Neptune's 886.

The leader of NDP, Goodwin Friday, also won his seat, Northern Grenadines, 2,123 to 458.

Gonsalves' son, Camillo Gonsalves, also returned his seat with a win of 2,845 against Laverne Gibson-Velox’s 2,659 in the East St. George Constituency.
