Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis – November 13, 2020 – On Thursday 12th November the residents of St. Kitts experienced an electricity outage around 7:15am, which was later confirmed by the St. Kitts Electricity Company (SKELEC) as affecting the entire island. The power outage was a result of a fire at the Needsmust power plant.
Flow’s Local Incident Management Team was activated and met numerous times throughout the day to assess the situation. With back-up generators and batteries at all cell sites, Flow was able to maintain service to over 90% of the mobile network.
Broadband customers also experienced 8 hours of uptime following the power outage. In residential areas where multi-service access nodes have gone offline due to a lack of municipal power, both fixed voice and internet service would be unavailable. Flow
sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused.
Flow wishes to assure all impacted customers that our local and regional teams are working together to maintain connectivity and restore the network operability as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience.
