...second time in as many days
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Cable is once more counting its losses after its operations were again sabotaged in the St. Peter’s area when one of its lines was cut, causing disruptions in services to residents of lower Monkey Hill.
Crews were seen in several areas last evening (Dec. 1) working to have service restored to customers after the cut.
In a media statement last evening, The Cable explained that for the second time in two days “a person or persons have again deliberately cut the company’s fibre that provides service to the affected customers”.
Customers in the entire St. Peter’s area, including New Road, were without service after the fibre optic cable that provides service for The Cable and Digicel was cut late Saturday night. The company was however able to rectify the problem by midday Sunday.
That followed a similar occurrence in the same area during the previous week.
Both The Cable and Digicel are partnering with a monetary reward for information that would lead to the apprehension and prosecution of the perpetrator (s) involved in the damage of the infrastructure.
The company expects that full restoration of service could be done by this morning.
The Cable noted that as police continue to carry out their investigation, it is appealing to the perpetrator(s) to desist “from destroying its property”.
“The company is warning that it will enforce the fullest extent of the law when the perpetrators are caught,” the company added.
