By: Caribbean Lottery, Press Release

Charlestown, Nevis – December 02, 2020 -- Staff members of the Maude Crosse Preparatory School in Charlestown, Nevis were delighted to accept a generous donation of 1,500 adult disposable masks from the Caribbean Lottery during a recent handover presentation at the school.

The personal protective equipment donation was handed over on Tuesday, 24th November to bolster the school’s ongoing safety and prevention efforts during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Office Manager at The Caribbean Lottery, Sabina Harrinarain, who presented the masks, noted: “We are pleased to lend a helping hand to the staff at the Maude Crosse Preparatory School and we look forward to maintaining this fruitful relationship through our After School Advantage (ASA) Centre, as we seek to enhance each student’s educational experience.”

The Maude Crosse Preparatory School is the site of the first ASA Centre in Nevis, which was launched on the 28th of November 2019.  The ASA Centre on the sister island of St. Kitts was opened at the St. Christopher Children’s Home in Basseterre in 2014.

Each ASA is sponsored by IGT, the Caribbean Lottery’s parent company, through IGT’s global corporate philanthropic ASA initiative.  This initiative provides technological access to vulnerable children aged 5 to 18 years, through the provision of computer equipment and educational software to non-profit institutions in several Caribbean islands.

Mrs. Alecia Gilfillan, Principal of the Maude Crosse Preparatory School accepted the masks on behalf of the school and expressed her appreciation: “We are so grateful for IGT and the Caribbean Lottery’s ongoing commitment to our students’ education. This timely donation will greatly assist and aid in the protection efforts for each member of staff throughout the school year.”

The Maude Crosse Preparatory School was established by Ms. Maude Crosse in 1977. Students from pre-school to Grade Six work toward achieving the motto “Endure to Succeed” and are encouraged to reach their full potential.
