Newtown shooting-death victim identified

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE have provided the identity of the individual who was shot and killed in Newtown on Monday evening (Dec. 7). 

     

    In a press release, police stated that the victim was identified as Akeem Christopher, also known as ‘Little Man’ of Carty Alley.

     

    The release explained that as a result of a report made to the police some time after 10:00 p.m. on the day in question, officers visited a shop in Carty Alley, Newtown that was operated by Christopher.

     

    Upon arrival, they met Christopher’s motionless body lying on the floow with what appeared to multiple gunshot wounds.

     

    Preliminary investigations revealed that he was inside the establishment when an unknown assailant approached and shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene.
     
    Christopher was pronounced dead by the District Medical Officer who was summoned to the scene.

     

    Personnel from the Forensic Services Unit were also summoned and on arrival processed the scene and collected a number of items of evidential value.

     

    The police are appealing to anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Violent Crimes Unit by dialling 467-1887, 467-1888, 662-3468, the nearest police station or the Crime Hotline at 707, where information could be given anonymously.

     

    Akeem ‘Little Man’ Christopher’s death has taken to eight, the number of homicides committed in the Federation for the year.
