Federation records two more imported COVID-19 cases

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ST. KITTS and NEVIS has recorded five COVID-19 cases in just one week as two more tourists tested positive after entering the Federation.
     
    Confirmation of the latest cases came from the Chief Medical Officer, Dr.  Hazel Laws via a Ministry of Health press statement yesterday afternoon (Dec. 11).
     
    Dr. Laws explained that the first case was registered on December 10 and had arrived in the Federation on November 29.
     
    As per the protocols, the individual was under quarantine at a designated hotel and has since been moved to isolation.
     
    A second media statement from the Ministry of Health informed that case 28 arrived in the Federation on November 25 from the United States and was in quarantine since.
     
    Dr. Laws explained that the last four diagnosed cases of the COVID-19 virus were from one family.
     
    These latest confirmations were all found on Nevis with the total standing at 28; 18 on St. Kitts and 10 on Nevis.
     
    The CMO revealed that there are 24 recoveries and four active cases, with everyone remaining in stable condition.
     
    To this end, the CMO called on citizens and residents to follow the COVID-19 prevention and control measures:

     

     • Wearing a face mask when in public places;
     • Maintaining good hand hygiene;
     • Maintaining physical distance of at least six feet from others when in public places; and 
    • Avoiding crowds and events.
