St. Kitts and Nevis Ambassador to CARICOM and the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), and former Financial Secretary, His Excellency Mr Wendell Lawrence is scheduled to deliver the feature address at the Annual Christmas Luncheon Meeting of the St. Kitts-Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The Luncheon is slated for Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the Sugar Bay Club in Frigate Bay, starting at 12 noon.

Ambassador Lawrence is expected to address the Chamber's membership on the issue of the Federation's preparedness for the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).  Among other matters, he should be discussing   (a) our Country's current state of preparedness for the new trading environment that is scheduled to come on stream after December 31, 2005; and (b) the necessary prerequisites that our Country must have in place before the January 2006 implementation of the CSME.  A Chamber spokesperson indicated that the scheduling of the luncheon is also timely, as the 2006 Budget would have just been presented in Parliament by Prime Minister Douglas the day before, and as such, Ambassador Lawrence should be in a position to also shed light on how Government's financial planning would have taken into account the new economic environment that the Federation would soon be operating under.

Registration for the Chamber's Christmas Luncheon Meeting will close at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2005.  Members who have not yet registered are urged to do so as soon as possible.  Persons interested in attending the luncheon should contact the Chamber at telephone number 465-2980/3967 or via e-mail at sknchamber@caribsurf.com.
