Missing individuals’ cases still being probed

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN providing an update on several incidents that occurred last year that are still under a cloud of suspicion, the Commissioner of Police, Hilroy Brandy, revealed that the cause of death for a number of individuals has been confirmed by autopsy reports, while investigations into several missing persons are still ongoing.

The Top Cop, while responding to a reporter’s query for an update on the investigation into the death of Sandra Adams of Stonefort Heights Project, reminded that it was ruled a homicide.

Police, in a statement on the incident back in September, noted that upon arrival at the woman’s home they had found her unresponsive in her room with a cord wrapped about her neck.

Her body had also bore several wounds.

Brandy explained that an autopsy was performed on her remains and it concluded that the wounds were deemed to be “self-inflicted”.

In the case of young Customs Officer Andrew Douglas, who was found with a single gunshot wound to the head at the Customs Office in Bird Rock, CoP Brandy disclosed that the “post mortem was performed by the Resident Pathologist and his conclusion was that his injury was self-inflicted”.

“As a result, these files are pending before the Magistrate’s Court for a coroner's inquest,” added Brandy.

Douglas’ death had raised concerns in several quarters, with many questioning how the young man was able to access the weapon on the job.

Looking at three missing person cases - David Lake, 81, of Conaree; Charlvin Marks, 21, of Verchilds; and Jabal Henry, 36 - the Commissioner noted that they are all still under investigation.

Police issued several missing person bulletins for Lake, who  was last seen by his caretaker at about 5:00 p.m. on August 16, 2020.

Lawmen had reported that Marks, a CFBC student, was last seen over a year ago - in 2019.
Meanwhile, Upper Cayon resident Henry was reportedly last seen on January 31 walking along the Kim Collins Highway.

“Those matters are still under investigation and as information comes forward the police continue to investigate. And we are appealing to the general public if you have any information say something,” Brandy added.

The Top Cop, while commended the public for its support in 2020, called on them to show the same level of responsibility for this year.
