BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) has confirmed that approval was granted for the start of the 2021 Premier League Season.
Already postponed twice, the body on Monday (Feb. 15) afternoon indicated that the League would blow off from Friday night.
In a short post, the SKNFA indicated that the League would play games on February 19, 20, 21.
Since its successful staging of the Super Six Playoffs in December, officials at the SKNFA had found it difficult in gaining the necessary approval to begin the season, which was expected to kick off at the start of this month.
However, it was met with several hurdles by the National COVID-19 Task Force. One of the challenges that the body encountered, like all other sport associations, is the staging of tournaments and games behind closed doors.
That initially saw the President’s Cup being postponed but with the League scheduled to blow off. However, that too was later delayed.
A statement from the SKNFA is expected to be issued later today.
