Hope brothers back in Barbados squad for Super50 Cup

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - CRICKET West Indies (CWI) has confirmed that the Hope brothers (Kyle and Shai), who were initially ruled out of the CG Insurance Super50 Cup tournament following their COVID-19 positive results, would now join the Barbados Pride team for the remainder of the tournament.

The duo joined the team ahead of today’s (Feb. 18) all-important clash with the Windward Islands Volcanoes.

CWI, in a media statement, announced that the Technical Committee for the CG Insurance Super50 Cup has approved injury replacements for the Barbados Pride and Leeward Islands Hurricanes for the remainder of the tournament, following injuries to three players.

In the case of the Pride, CWI said Kyle and Shai Hope have been named as replacements for Dominic Drakes (knee injury) and Keon Harding (hip injury) in the Barbados Pride squad.

The two brothers, both of whom are Windies Senior team players, have tested negative for COVID-19 after recovering from the virus following positive tests before the start of the CG Insurance Super50 Cup.

Meanwhile, Kofi James was named to replace Nino Henry (groin injury) in the Leeward Islands Hurricanes squad.

Currently, both the Leeward Islands Hurricanes and the Barbados Pride are fighting for survival in the tournament after suffering significant losses.
