CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – OCTOBER is designated Breast Cancer Awareness Month and, in commemoration, Pink Lily Breast Cancer Care Nevis has planned a number of activities.
At a press briefing held earlier this week, volunteers of the organisation revealed a campaign under the theme “BREAST and Changing the Face of Cancer” which begins with the debut radio broadcast of a song written for Pink Lily by Andrew ‘Murray’ Hendrickson.
The support group also plans to place an information table at Saturday’s Fishing Sport tournament at the Oualie Beach and will host an “Over 30s Costume Party” on Saturday, October 31.
Pink Lily’s biggest event for the month is however the Walk-a-Bike-a-Thon which takes place on October 10. The event, planned in conjunction with the Nevis Cycle and Triathlon Club, will start from Chicken Stone and end at Pinney’s Beach. The bikers will reach Pinney’s via New Castle while the walkers will go in the opposite direction and access Pinney’s through Charlestown. The walkers and riders will then have the opportunity to participate in a fun day on the beach.
Registration is $35 for adults and $20 for children, and starting time is 6:00 a.m.
