BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AFTER reporting an initial caseload of 155, health officials in St. Lucia on Tuesday (Mar. 2) announced that 234 more positive cases of the Coronavirus were confirmed on the island.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness noted that the numbers were from a batch of 821 samples taken during the period of February 12 to March 1, 2021, and those samples were processed on February 28, 2021 and March 1, 2021.

The individuals were assessed and tested for COVID-19 at various community respiratory clinics and, in keeping with the COVID-19 testing protocol, they were placed in home quarantine by health practitioners while awaiting their test results.

The new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed on the island to date to 3,779 with 670 cases being active.

There was a glimmer of bright light as 27 people who were diagnosed with COVID-19 were deemed to have recovered, bringing the total number of active cases in-country to 670.

The Ministry of Health also stated that there was one COVID-19 related death, bringing the number to 37.
