Weekend Vibes: National Health Insurance

Sister

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – MINISTER OF HEALTH in the Nevis Island Administration, the Hon. Hensley Daniel recently resumed promoting the idea of a National Health Insurance Plan for the island. Weekend Vibes took to the streets of Nevis and asked residents their opinions on this proposal.

Sister - It is a good idea because when people get sick the finances are not there to pay insurances. It’s a good move for the country. Two percent should be taken out of one’s salary and the government should pay a percent also.

Kandi - I think it’s a good idea, because we will benefit from it tremendously. I think five percent is good enough to be deducted.

Patrice - I think it’s a very good idea because far too often persons become ill and they don’t really have the savings to help them in terms of travelling and all other associated expenses. It all depends on the salary, but whatever it is being deducted I don’t think people should have a problem with it because we spend a lot a money on phone cards and on other unnecessary things.

Toshio – It is a good idea because everybody would benefit. I think two percent should be taken out and the government should pay the other percentages needed.

Annette – It is a good idea. I think three percent should be taken out.

Kel – It is a brilliant move. It would save people from the hassle with private insurances. I am a school child but I think whatever percent is taken out should not be too much for persons to quarrel about.
