BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is seeking the public’s assistance in learning the whereabouts of three men who are wanted for armed robbery and possession of a firearm.

According to the Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Cromwell Henry, the three men are Glenville ‘Peter’ Maynard, Rawle ‘Wally’ Benjamin and Phillip Jones, all of Tabernacle, and they are believed to be armed and dangerous.

“At about 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2009”, Henry said, “Maynard and Benjamin, armed with a firearm, entered a shop at Belle Vue and robbed the shopkeeper of a sum of money and a cell phone before making their escape.”

SKNVibes had learnt that Maynard and Benjamin, who were armed with a .38 revolver, went into a shop in the Belle Vue area, said to be owned and operated by an individual identified only as ‘Shirley’, and robbed her of a cellular phone and EC$26 before making their escape.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime, Joseph Liburd, while the robbery was in progress, the police were notified and they quickly responded which resulted in them nabbing Tabernacle resident Rawle Benjamin.

Liburd also informed that Benjamin was taken into custody along with the revolver and four matching rounds of ammunition found in his possession.

This media house also learnt that Benjamin had escaped from the St. Paul’s Police Station on the following day, which was later confirmed by Inspector Henry.

The 22-year-old Benjamin is said to be of dark complexion, medium built and is five feet five inches tall, while the six-foot tall Maynard, who is also known as Blue Steel, is 20 years old, medium built and dark in complexion.

Henry said that Jones, the third man, is wanted for possession of firearm and ammunition and he is 26 years of age, six feet two inches in height, slimly built and fair in complexion.

Inspector Henry also warned that these men should not be approached by the public if seen, but rather “call the Tabernacle Police Station at 465-7227 or 911”.
