Social Security Board Annual Primary Schools’ Visit

By: (SSB), Press Release

BASSETERRE ST. KITTS, 8TH MARCH 2021 — The St Christopher and Nevis Social Security Board commenced Circuit One of its annual Primary School Education Tour on Tuesday 23rd February 2021 and concluded on the Friday 5th March 2021.

A total of six hundred and twenty-five (625) young, eager minds across twentyone (21) Primary Schools on St. Kitts were engaged in an introduction to Social Security at the Grade Six (6) level.

The aim of the tour is to ensure that the populous from a very early age understand the importance of Social Security and how it touches the lives, homes, institutions, and every individual in our Federation.

The students are introduced to the concept of income protection, registration contributions and benefits in a way that is fun, informative, and interactive. An important feature of the presentation is role play through which the students demonstrate what they have learnt by developing scenarios based on different types of employers, the self- employed and employees.

At the start of presentations, the children are asked to share their views. By the end of the presentations and now having a firsthand opportunity to listen and learn, there was an evident glow of intrigue and interest on the faces of the students when they realize how easily they have grasped the very important message of Social Security all while having fun in the process.

Further, we have noted the far-reaching impact initiatives such as these by the Social Security Board have on the insured, as on numerous occasions parents have expressed delight in the fact that their children initiated well coined conversations about their understanding of Social Security. This has prompted some individuals to come in and ask questions about their contributions and
    benefits.

The Nevis Tour will commence shortly. Visit our Social Media platforms for highlights from each school.
