CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - HEALTH officials announced that the Federation’s COVID-19 numbers have increased by one yesterday (Mar. 17) when another sample returned positive from a traveller into Nevis.
Providing an update on the territory’s situation report, Public Relations Officer of the Health Emergency Operations Center, Dr. Marissa Carty announced the case, which now brings the total number of confirmed cases to 44.
Of that number, 30 have been reported on St. Kitts and the remainder on Nevis.
The PRO did not provide any details on whether the individual is an international traveller or not, or when that person would have arrived in the Federation.
She however stated that 42 of the 44 cases have so far recovered while the remaining two are active.
Meanwhile, as the case number slowly ticks up, the Government’s vaccination drive has reached 20 percent.
Dr. Carty revealed that 7,071 people have so far received their first jab of the AstraZeneca Vaccine, which gives a percentage of 21.4 of the target population for inoculation.
Since the onset of the pandemic last year, the Government has tested 10,572 people with only 44 samples returning positive. Currently, there are 341 persons in a quarantine facility with 6,211 already released.
